Tips On One Way Car RentalFinding a company that provides one way car rentals is not as difficult as it once used to be, especially with the larger, national companies that have car rental deals across the country. The benefit to a one way car rental is that you don't have to worry about returning the vehicle to the same location as you originally rented from. The most common reason for a one way car rental is when people are moving, however vacations and work related travel are also common reasons for having to rent a vehicle to travel one direction.
One way car rentals typically include any type of vehicle that is available for any other type of rental including small economy cars, luxury sedans and even specialty vehicles such as sports utility vehicles, trucks or even moving vans. If you are planning on renting a vehicle and you want a particular type, make or model is it highly recommended that you phone ahead or reserve your vehicle online, rather than waiting until the last minute. Some types of vehicles, especially the luxury cars and the specialty vehicles are often in high demand, particularly over the summer and on weekends. Booking ahead may also allow you to access some of the car rental deals offered by the various companies in your area. Comparison shopping and doing some online research can help to save a considerable amount of money when you are considering one way rental cars. Check for weekly or monthly specials offered by the company as well as any types of discounts offered for travel during specific periods of the week. Often if you are reserving a vehicle for a longer period of time the overall cost may be slightly less per day, which if you are moving can also provide you with an extra few days with a car, truck or van to help get organized. Discounts through credit card companies, frequent renter programs or other incentives through various businesses or even local promotions may all be options for saving a bit of extra cash. Some of the smaller, local rental companies may not offer one way car rentals or they may charge an additional drop fee for a one way car rental. Typically if you are dropping the vehicle off at an airport this drop fee is waived, but never make the assumption that this is the case. Always confirm either through the internet or by phone about any fees being waived and make sure that your signed contract indicates what you were told. If the company is unwilling to amend the contract to include what they have told you then keep looking for another car rental company. Another important consideration with regards to one way rental cars and vehicles is the gas mileage that the vehicle gets. With the rising cost of fuel often this is as much as the daily car rental fee, and choosing a higher mileage type of vehicle is an important consideration to stay within your budget. Finding vehicle mileage is easy through many different sites on the internet, but keep in mind that the weather, road conditions and even the age of the vehicle will all impact on what type of gas mileage you can expect. Typically the larger the vehicle the lower your miles per gallon will be, meaning that larger vehicles are going to be more expensive to operate. If, however, you have to move then your options for choosing a vehicle may be limited. Talk to the rental company and try to estimate the smallest possible vehicle to keep these costs down. |
